Spellings
Even in today’s society with all of our computers, phones, tablets and other digital tools, spelling is still an essential skill for children to learn for many reasons:
- Strong spelling skills help a child to read more easily because they understand the relationship between letters and the words that they form.
- Correct spelling will make work easier to read and understand.
- Continued struggles with spelling can alert teachers and parents / carers to the presence of an undiagnosed specific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia.
- No matter how technologically advanced our society becomes, as adults we still need to be competent spellers and writers.
If you are unsure how to teach spellings in a way that is not only effective but fun, please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher for tips, tricks and advice.
Please find below spellings linked to the age pupils are working at, if you are unsure what age your child is working at, please contact your class teacher.
