Occupational Therapy
Therapies In School Service - Occupational Therapy
TIS Occupational Therapists (OT) are based at school and offer an accredited training programme (Sensory and Life Skills).
TIS OT’s can provide individual or group activities to help promote development of life skills, fine and gross motor skills, sensory and self-regulation skills. They can also recommend suitable equipment such as seating aids, pencil grips and sensory items. TIS OTs can offer sensory screening, which can be used to develop strategies to support the child’s sensory needs both at home and at school.
Training provided by Therapies In School Service
TIS OT therapists provide training modules for Sensory Processing and specific training relevant to the needs of the pupils in each school. Every member of school staff is offered training at Level 1, and a smaller group of staff members will be offered Level 2 and 3 training. Parents and carers can also be offered Level 1 training.
The TIS vision is to enable schools, families and therapists to work in partnership to deliver life learning opportunities that blend the pupil's educational aspirations with their therapeutic needs.
