Subject of the Week: Food Studies
We have had a fantastic start in Food Studies this year with all the pupils being enthusiastic, especially Key Stage 3. Last week we baked fruit and oat muffins and all pupils excelled with the skills and techniques whilst showing great teamwork and listening when working together.
Year 10 are working towards their BTEC level 1 in Home Cooking Skills and Year 11 towards their level 2. By the end of Year 11 the pupils will be able to plan, prepare and serve a 2-course meal, with a focus on the presentation and service. This half term we are focusing on starters and desserts involving a wide variety of cooking skills including kneading, blending, and roasting.
All dishes prepared will be sent home to be shared and enjoyed!
