This week we were delighted to welcome Sian from Chichester Festival Theatre, who led our pupils through a fantastic BFG‑themed puppetry workshop.

Pupils learned the key skills every puppeteer needs:

Breathing – keeping the puppet gently moving so it feels alive

Weight – making sure the puppet stays grounded (worms can’t fly!)

Focus – always keeping your eyes on your puppet to bring it to life

With just two sticks and a piece of foam, pupils created brilliant worm puppets that wriggled, curled and danced in all sorts of impressive ways!

We also explored some of the BFG’s wonderful words, like snozzcumber and human beans and discussed why the BFG sometimes gets words wrong. When you come from somewhere very different, learning a new language can be tricky, and sometimes our words come out a little bit wrong… just like the BFG!

A huge thank‑you to Sian for an inspiring and imaginative session. Our pupils absolutely loved it!
