Governors
The membership of the governing body of Littlegreen Academy is determined by the Terms of Reference.
There are three types of governors:
- Co-opted Governors
- Parent Governors
- Staff Governors
Co-opted and Parent Governors are all volunteers who are not paid. The staff governors are all paid members of staff but do not receive any additional payments in connection with being a governor.
There is also a Clerk to the Governors who arranges and attends meetings and helps with legal and constitutional matters, but cannot vote on any matter at any meeting. This is a paid post.
Statutory information about the current governors and resignations can be found in the Governance Documents section below.
Minutes from meetings of the Academy Committee are available on request.

Louise QuaidExecutive Principal
Louise Quaid
I grew up in Portsmouth and after graduating from university I went off to work as an outdoor activities instructor in beautiful Dorset. I found that working with young people was a really rewarding experience and I decided that a career in teaching was my vocation. Subsequently I qualified as a science teacher and my journey has taken me from a mainstream classroom in an inner city boy's school, to leadership roles in schools for pupils with SEND. I gain the greatest job satisfaction when I know that my work contributes to ensuring that children are reaching their full potential.
I love the outdoors, walking, cycling, kayaking or swimming and sometimes running. Reading is my escape and I have far too many books.
I am passionate in my belief that all children and young people should have the very best opportunities through education. As the Executive Principal I am privileged to work with committed staff that are dedicated to ensuring that the pupils of Littlegreen Academy are happy and successful, that they learn through exciting and creative activities. Each day I look forward to spending time with the boys.

A little about myself
Littlegreen Academy has played a significant part in my life for the past 16 years and in this time I have held many positions within the school. I am extremely proud to be Head of School at Littlegreen Academy. I love my job because I get to spend time with some of the most interesting and brilliant young people. I feel privileged to be just a small part of their lives.
I strongly believe that the social and emotional development of all pupils is paramount and that learning can only happen when children feel safe and experience a positive and nurturing environment.
Hobbies and Interests
Time away from work is about finding pleasure in the little things in life. I have two children (Edward and Bella) and as a family we enjoy travelling, going on adventures and walking our dog Honey. We love being outside and active, and rarely sit still!
What excites me about my role
The team of staff at Littlegreen Academy are exceptional and we all work together to give the young people the best possible opportunities, experiences and skills needed to lead a successful and happy life.

Career: Graphic Design.
We lived and worked in the Far East before coming to West Sussex and have been living half a mile from the school for the last 25 years, being active members of the local community.
I am a printmaker using linocut and enjoy sailing in the Solent and playing the concertina.
I worked as a volunteer at Littlegreen School for 8 years and now I hope to be able to help keep the school on the right path to give the boys an opportunity to enjoy their education and succeed in their lives.

Laura KingStaff Governor
Laura King
I currently work in the Pastoral Department at Littlegreen Academy. I am a qualified Thrive practitioner, supporting students outside of the classroom on a 1:1 basis.
Prior to working at Littlegreen I worked as a heritage professional, managing archaeological sites for a commercial archaeology unit. I also have a long-term association with the Air Cadet Organisation where I specialise in teaching leadership skills to young people. It was this experience which provided me with the impetus to explore a career in education.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, reading and sewing.
I enjoy the day to day challenge that working at Littlegreen brings, no two days are the same, and I am looking forward to continuing to support our students to access the classroom and find ways to achieve their potential.

I formally retired in 2021; however, I still remain actively fulfilling the role of consultant to Ferryspeed serving the freight market for the CI.
Upon retirement I applied to the judiciary to volunteer as a Justice of the Peace (Magistrate) I am delighted to say, following my training, was appointed to the Portsmouth bench where I sit two to three times a month.
Although now divorced, I was married for 35 years and have four grown up sons and four grandchildren, ages ranging from 8 to 3.
I am an avid reader and love to read books of any description.
I love music and play the piano and guitar but must add for my own pleasure.
Following my association with the PCC charity Shaping Portsmouth, I mentored two groups of students at Littlegreen Academy. I found the whole experience incredibly rewarding and formed a bond with the school and Trust. I enquired how I could continue, and the role of governor was suggested, considered and I accepted. I am happy to bring the experience of my working life coupled with my new role as Magistrate to the role of Governor on Littlegreen Academy Committee
